For Parents

A warm place to land, four hundred miles from home

You cannot pick your student's friends. You can point them toward a table where the people are kind, the food is good, and the adults know their name.

What your student gets

The things you would ask about first

01

A safe, warm place to land

A real home near campus with a host family in it. Adults who know your student by name, notice when they go quiet, and feed them properly at least once a week.

02

Friends who pull in the right direction

The single biggest factor in who a student becomes over four years is who they eat dinner with. We take that seriously.

03

Formation, not agitation

We teach logic, rhetoric, the canon, civics, economics, character, and manners. We do not run campaigns or rallies. The work is quieter than that, and it lasts.

04

Mentors and a phone that gets answered

Every student has an adult in their corner, plus year-round chat support. For the hard class, the hard semester, or the question they would rather not call home about yet.

What we are not

Plainly, so there is no guessing

  • No campaigns, no candidates, no partisan mail
  • No staged confrontations with professors or classmates
  • No dues, no fees, and no cost to sit at the table
  • No pressure of any kind to come back a second time
We drove up for parents weekend and met the host family. My son had eaten at their table every week for a year. That was the moment I stopped worrying.

How to connect them with us

Send them the link, or fill out the form yourself with their name and school. We will write to them warmly, invite them to dinner, and leave the rest entirely up to them.

Questions welcome

Talk to a person, not a form

Write to us and you will reach someone who can tell you exactly what a Thursday night looks like.
