The Winston-Salem house
The third house. A porch a few minutes from Wait Chapel.
Winston-Salem gets the third house: a white clapboard place off Reynolda Road, a host family who treat Thursday night like a holiday, and a table small enough that everyone talks to everyone. Demon Deacons who were strangers at orientation end up friends here by October.

Where to find us
A short walk from Wait Chapel and the Quad, between campus and Reynolda Village. Quiet street, big porch, and the gardens are five minutes away if you come early.
The host family
A Winston-Salem couple with a long dining table, a longer bookshelf, and three kids who have grown up thinking twenty guests on a Thursday is normal. They remember birthdays and they remember how you take your coffee.
Getting there
- On foot: ten minutes from Wait Chapel, out past the Reynolda Road gate.
- By shuttle: the Reynolda Village shuttle stops a block away.
- By car: plenty of street parking after 6 pm. The driveway is for the host family.
Every conservative Demon Deacon on campus has a seat at the table. Membership is verified simply, so the table stays genuine.
A week at Winston-Salem
Come to any of it. Most people start with Thursday and work outward.
- Thursday, 7:00 pm
Weekly dinner. Catered properly. RSVP in the app, no agenda.
- Sunday, 4:00 pm
Formation session in the house library. Pillar One this term: logic and rhetoric.
- Game days
Watch parties on the porch, and the walk to the stadium when the Deacs are at home.
- Fall and spring break
The retreat, shared with the other houses. Three days, one lodge.
The three things people ask
- Do I need to RSVP?
- Yes, by Wednesday noon, so the host family knows how many are coming. Your first time, the form on this site is the RSVP; we will reply with the address. After that it is one tap in the app. Bringing a friend? Put them on your RSVP so there is a plate.
- Wake is small. Will I know everyone already?
- You will know some of them, which makes the first night easier. You will not know all of them, which is the point. The table mixes years and majors on purpose.
- Is there a cost?
- None. Dinner is free, always. Trips carry a small cost that points can cover.
